Painstakingly conceived with the playability, ergonomics, and resonance of all our Upton Bass models<\/a>.  In our opinion it is the most musical and finest built hybrid or laminate double bass available on a budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is our goal at Upton Bass to build amazing double basses known for the best sound, value and build quality. As such for those buying on a budget it’s very important that we match you with the best bass for your needs, or sometimes, send you off to save a little more money. Financing is available at typical interest rates however our banks do offer secured loans and flexible payment plans. Ten to twenty percent deposit required to apply for financing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hybrid Standard is a round back double bass with a carved spruce top and plywood back and sides.  All of our plywood is still made in-house from our own tonewood veneers, and the top is carved by the same luthiers who make all of the custom Upton basses!  Its design is based on the gamba pattern of the Upton Bohemian Model. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These specifications have allowed us to offer a double bass at this price with the acoustic design and ergonomics of the Upton Bass lineage, hand built by expert luthiers with the respect a musical instrument deserves. However the Standard bass is NOT customizable…see below<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may be asking – what if I want a different color?  What if I want the solo swoop?  At that point you are starting down the road of a custom Upton Bass build – you might consider the Upton Bohemian Model, with its great value and tremendous flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Standard was built on our Bohemian Upton Bass<\/a> pattern with a string length of 41.5″ and a D neck. For sizing variations, please talk to us about building a custom Bohemian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
