We\u2019re offering this classic late-1920s Czech double bass as a full restoration project from our shop. If you\u2019ve followed us for a while, you\u2019ve heard Gary refer to these as the \u201cNew York City jazz basses\u201d \u2013 built in Europe, played hard in the city, and still standing tall decades later.<\/p>\n
This one has that unmistakable patina: a bit of antiquing when it was first built, and the honest wear from a life of playing ever since. More importantly, it\u2019s got the sound to match.<\/p>\n
This sale includes a complete Upton restoration:
\n\u2013 Scroll replacement (we\u2019ll graft a traditional scroll, not just repair the break)
\n\u2013 New ebony fingerboard
\n\u2013 New bridge
\n\u2013 Internal work as needed (top will be removed for full access)<\/p>\n
